The Vestry as the governing body has established the following committees to carry on and fulfill the necessary work entrusted to the Vestry. These committees are largely filled by lay volunteers with lay volunteers with clergy and shared ministry team members may also participate. Most committee leadership positions are held by lay people who are selected by the committee’s members, subject to approval by the Vestry. See the church calendar (add link) regarding meeting times.
Finance
The Finance Committee is responsible for reviewing the financial performance of Ss Martha & Mary and making recommendations to the Vestry. The committee meets monthly and reviews the previous month's and year-to-date financial results. It also considers any significant upcoming expenditures and advises the Vestry about the impact on the church finances and alternatives for dealing with the issue. It also is responsible for developing the annual budget and working with the Vestry to finalize an approved annual plan. The committee is led by the treasurers and may also include the Junior & Senior Wardens and others interested in helping with financial issues.
Worship
The Worship Committee is composed of both clergy and lay members of Ss. Martha and Mary, meeting at least quarterly. The committee assists individual clergy in planning the services for the upcoming liturgical season, such as the Eucharistic Prayers and Prayers of the People. The prayers change for various seasons; for example, Advent and Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Lent, and Holy Week. The committee also assists in planning for special events, such as baptisms.
